Here's what a shortcut looks like up close. The chimney was already in rough shape before someone threw a tarp over it with tape and called it fixed. That's not a repair - that's a delay. And a delay with water intrusion is how you end up with rotted sheathing, damaged insulation, and mold problems inside your walls.

When flashing, siding, and waterproofing aren't done right together, water doesn't care. It finds the path of least resistance every single time. Chimneys are one of the most common entry points for water, and they're also one of the most mishandled repairs we see out here in the DFW area.

We got called in for the chimney repair and did a full inspection while we were up there. What we found was bigger than just the chimney. The homeowner is now working through approval for a complete exterior restoration. That's not a sales pitch - that's just what happens when you actually look at the whole picture instead of slapping a patch on one spot.

A cheap fix can snowball fast. Interior damage from an unresolved leak can cost several times more to fix than the original repair would have. After the recent storms that rolled through DFW, we've seen this pattern on a lot of homes - a visible problem, a quick band-aid, and then a much bigger issue waiting underneath.

If your home took any hits from recent weather, get it looked at properly. Not every damage situation is dramatic or obvious from the ground. Sometimes it takes someone getting up on the roof and actually checking the flashing, the siding transitions, and the waterproofing details before you understand what you're really dealing with.
